| Situated in the Banff National Park area of Canada’s Rocky Mountains. The skiing is divided into three separate areas: The Banff Mount Norquay ski area is some 15 minutes from Banff by ski bus, offering excellent beginners’ areas on the lower slopes, as well as plenty of more challenging slopes higher up. Sunshine Village is 25 minutes from Banff and offers excellent skiing for all levels – but is especially good for intermediates, offering mile-after-mile of long runs and superb powder possibilities. The third area is Lake Louise, 45 minutes from Banff and one of Canada’s top ski resorts, certainly the most extensive of the 3, offering excellent facilities and skiing for all abilities. |

Beginners: There are excellent nursery areas in all three of the local ski areas, and the ski schools are excellent. All of the ski areas are a bus ride from the accommodation. The Neilson Discover Snow Sports programme for complete beginners operates at Sunshine.
Intermediates: The runs down through the trees at Sunshine, as well as the wide flattering open bowls at the top of the mountain, are an intermediates delight – also Sunshine is renowned for its record annual snow fall and boasts some of the best powder skiing anywhere in the Rockies. Lake Louise offers excellent opportunities for intermediates, with long, undulating slopes as well as excellent bowl and tree skiing.
Advanced: There are good opportunities for powder skiing and exhilarating tree runs as well as excellent mogul runs in all three areas. Lake Louise also offers some great back bowl skiing, while some of the best heli-skiing in the world is located just two hours from Banff. Sunshine Village has a new extreme skiing and boarding zone, offering off-piste riding as steep as 50 degrees, it is known as "Delerium Dive".
Snowboarding: The Sunshine Village area is ideal for riders of all ability levels. Wide-open runs and a good lift system make it ideal for mastering the basics. The off-piste is varied and easily accessed. Mount Norquay and Lake Louise both have great steeps and powder bowls. All three areas have great freeride parks. |
